This was my first music tech project in the classs. Used a website called incredibox
Remix project (13 Seconds)
First project using Ableton I chose sample set two because i liked the clips in sample set two the most. I liked sample set two the most because it has a lot of trap beats and I like trap music. Plus I could not sample set one open to play through the headphones. I learned that sometimes you have to be extra patient with these types of things because sometimes Ableton does not always cooperate. I learned how to use the program Ableton. I played with the push and lot of the settings on the different beats. Last I learned that the headphones get extremely staticy and annoying. Some choices I made about volume are just doing it at random. Sometimes I would make the volume higher or lower depending on my mood. The thing I enjoyed most about this project was getting to make music and I can have a mix like those soundcloud rappers. Also I can brag to people and claim I have a “mixtape.”
The Bell Project (Why)
Inspired by Mike Ofield,The sounds I choose throughout the project were Fuzzy Molton, Funky Organ, Flute Lead, Float about Chord and the Soft Horn. I choose these sounds because they sounds complemented each other and after failing to make a halloween themed piece I settled, realizing with time I could make halloween remix eventually when I get better with Ableton. Some choices I made recording a melody were just choosing the midi track sound that went best with the beats. Mixing and finishing the song I choose it randomly because I like randomness and that accurately describes my personality. Some things I have learned from this project were I should plan better I do not waste time start over and over again, asking for help when necessary because if I did I probility would have wasted so much time.
The Beat Box Project (Battle of the Drums)
The choices I made when selecting the kits were originally sticking with the 808 because it’s a classic kit. Then I went to the other kits such as the the 606 because why not they sounded nice. Also I made sure that each kit sounded different , but together. When making the bass line I decided to go with a wonkbase. The choices made when adding effects were seeing what sounded the nicest. I decided to make it go slow because my drum beats were fast so I decided to something fitting which is slow because when a bass is too fast I do not like how it sounds. I made my song via panning andImadesureto make interesting. I also made effects using the dry and wet effect as well as the ping pong effect. The ping pong effect gave it a cool sound. I enjoyed mixing the piece and adding beats. I learned how to balance the piece to make everything well heard. What was challenging was getting started and making the bass beat sound how I like it .
The title S
I used loops to create energy in the piece by keeping the each loop in the same scale, but I used the different notes in each piece to make it sound different. The energy of the piece has a lot of distance and some bright and lively sounds, with some darker undertones to it. I made sure to always come to the low note on the piano to make Locrian mode less difficult to work with. The choices I made with the modes and scales to create mood were to keep it bright and dark at the same time. Using the world Percussion loops I used the egg shakers and the some other world percussion loops. It helped a another layer of depth to the piece. I created flow in the piece by making different sounds arranged in the different orders to create different areas of flow. Some new skills I learned from this project were how to do a scale in Live, how to fold the notes and how to change the pitch of the music. Changing the pitch of the loops were alot of fun because it was cool to hear how loud and soft I could make the tracks and hear them distorted a bit.
Sound Trap Song
Mixed a bunch of beats for this song. This songs reminds me of Seinfeld because its new age and hipstery, like my favorite show. I used a bunch of EDM beats and jazz beats. Then I mixed it randomly because randomness produces the best results. This project taught me how to use Soundtrap and other digital workstations.
